I agree with Rod. There is a lot of misunderstanding generally about
changing a car to negative ground, as if it were a big deal. Actually it's
really very easy indeed. You can flip a dynamo's polarity in seconds just
by disconnecting it and 'stroking' the field terminal for 2 or 3 seconds
with a feed from battery positive (but don't hold it there 'solid'). then
reverse the ammeter as Rod describes.

The starter motor is dual polarity and won't start going backwards! But a
vintage car valve ('tube') radio or the car's original clock might need to
stay original polarity, so they'd have to be completely isolated - seek
advice from others, I seem to recall that this issue has been covered at
length elsewhere within STAR and 'Stardust'

Additionally if you ever planned to use a standard UK alternator like the
Lucas ACR17 rather than a dynamo I suspect they are almost always negative
ground only
