As the water pump fitting is amongst the many splendid bodges I am repairing, I have researched the specs.

You will find it to be 1/2 BSPP outer, 3/8 BSP inner to accommodate the temp sender.

I am fitting an electronic unit, so I got a 1/2BSP 1/8NPT and the gauge itself is a retrofit of the original housing with an electronic gauge.

Resources: Merlin Motorsport in the UK, Pegasus Racing in the US, Trust me, pay the UK freight and get the better deal in the end. The Pegasus offering is a steel plug which requires machining. The machining is about $25 here in TX, so its about a wash on price.
