What a great week the S.T.A.R group had in the Charente region of S.W. 
France. I have copied a couple of photos which may  or may not come out 
- if Bob wants me so send him some off-list, I will. On Saturday was the 
'rally' - a pleasant cruise around the cognac vineyards for 140 cars and 
lunch at Hennessy. Then on Sunday was the racing in which we were asked 
to do three laps of the Circuit des Remparts track during the lunch 
break between practice and the afternoon's racing. It is a "round the 
houses" course using everyday streets but with Armco barriers and tyres 
to protect the buildings - the cars can take their chances!!! With three 
severe uphill hairpins, it is a tight course. (

In this demonstration were six Alpines, followed by our gallant leader's 
S-T 80 DHC (with "only" 1,200cc but keeping up!!) and then five S-T 90 
saloons snapping at it's heels. When we all got back into the hotel 
garage, there was such a buzz ..... everyone was ecstatic. We were only 
touring around but using the whole track and hurrying along as fast as 
we dared with wives by our sides and no helmets (nor seat belts for most 
of us).
