John/Ken I've been running my cars [53Alpine,51 DHC] on unleaded fuel since the mid eighties with no ill effects. I had independant discussions with two machinists at the time I rebuilt the engines.Both came up with the same opinion that these engines do not produce enough power to be concerned with valve seat recession etc. Their opinion has been supported by trouble free operation since about 1986.
