Bob
This stuff apparently comes in various degrees of "softness" (durometer)
Which do you use, and is it worth paying twice the price for lower softness ?

Do you use single thickness or do you "double it up" ?
I see that (for some strange reason) a roll of 1/8" costs twice as much as a roll of 1/16" (which makes sense). But the 1/16" has twice as many yards in a roll, so you could double it up to get 1/8" thickness, for half the price of buying a roll of 1/8"

Used a gasket cement to hold it to the covers so when removing them, it stays with the cover and should last a long time.Regards,BobAt 12:11 PM 6/26/2008, wes.stewart at sunbeamsaloon.com wrote:
I'm going to make some silicone rocker cover gaskets and was wondering if anyone had a measurement of the fresh cork version's thickness. These will be a reusable gaskets that cures a vast amout of leak issues. I did the prototyping on the A series engine (BMC) with great success. You can see the result at http://www.adocars.com/gasket/A_Series_Gaskets.pdfDepending on if the thickness is the same, I might also do the side cover, pan, and other problem areas. These will be for 2/2a engines as I no access to other versions to measure. Depending on the outcome, I will ofer up sets at cost.WESFate, TX
