Hi Bob and all, you will find the Vin no was only stamped on the large screwed on aluminium plate which is situated on the Bulkhead,(Firewall) under the bonnet(Hood) above the battery,and the chassis no stamped on the front left hand outer chassis leg just behind the square jacking hole,and the later MK3 cars the chassis no was stamped on the top of the chassis near the oil filter,why they changed who knows, I have never seen the VIN or Chassis no stamped anywhere else, regards Mal Clark.

  Bob Pope here.  I am trying to determine exactly where VIN numbers can be found under the dashboard of an STA.  This is in regard to a blue STA that is missing the under-hood VIN tag and is also without the frame/engine.  I know the VIN is stamped on the underside of the dashboard, but my memory is failing on precisely where.  Also I am wondering if the VIN was stamped anywhere else on the body.

   

  I really could use good sketches and/or photos of these VIN locations to help find the VIN.
