Hi George the glove box light you mentioned is original on the Talbot sedan and I think Coupe, can't work out why it wasn't fitted to the Alpine,an expensive car to make so I guess they saved 10 bob not putting it in the Alpine,as mentioned I have the Petronix LU 241 Neg ground kit but I also have a new spare one in the tool kit in the footwell, you never know unlike points set up which usually can be fixed, of course you could always carry all the original distributor parts with you and change them back on the roadside if the electronic set up gave trouble, Mal Clark.

I also have the Petronex LU-241P12 Ignitor kit Lucas DM2 POS. As you say Bob, it works perfectly and never puts a spark wrong.

Bob's glove box is now installed and the door closes and locks. Now ..... where can I source the central open locker and chrome surround trim? Interestingly enough, when I re-examined my old glove box, I found that also came from a saloon car and had a small courtesy light, operated with a little toggle switch, let into the top of the box. As its fixing through the glove box top was with proper rivets (not screws or pop rivets) and plywood used as a spacer, perhaps this was an original fitting - can anyone confirm?

    Mal and others,

Be careful here as I have Positive ground Pertronix LU 241 installed in my Sunbeams and work flawlessly. Be sure you order the right one + or - earth (ground over here ;-)) If in doubt, contact Pertronix as I did as they are very approachable.

    Later,
    Bob

Hi Wes the petronix for A Sunbeam Talbot /Alpine is a LU241 that is Negative earth, very good,I have an Air Cond in my 53 Alpine, I fitted it using all new components but in fabricating it to fit etc etc took many hours but I must say it works fine and the two left hand outlet are hidden behind the glove box lid on my right hand drive car. I am in Australia, is would be almost impossible to explain to you how it was done and how I did it, saying that the air compressors was a new unit made for a Toyota Echo vehicle. good luck Mal Clark.
