Hi George, sounds like your tank is misplaced,as it should centre in its
hole as well as the side breather pipe, which creates the pear shaped hole in
the trunk floor, over which the grommet sits although the original and Bobs
repro grommets sit on top of the trunk floor,no groove,so they still have to
be glued in place,I would use a Neoprene such as Sikaflex, rather than glue,
this dries like rubber, Bob Stewart does also have the "oval" gromments
which fit each side of the engine bay above the top door hinge, these
grommets are extremely inportant,to eliminate engine noise, and more
importantly to eliminate fumes from the engine bay, alot of people would be
unaware of these grommets,as they are out of sight, a few people Bob has
supplied these to have wondered why they could smell oil and fuel fumes
inside their car, originally these grommets were flat pieces of rubber, with
one upturned edge thar was glued to the surrounding metal, most are long gone
from their car,Bobs replacements are a bung design which fit snuggly into
the hole as it would be almost impossible to glue and fix in place with one
hand, thats all you can get into the area of these grommets, at least with
his bung design grommet you can manipulate them into position, good luck Mal
Clark
