Wes Stewart here.
I am currently negotiating for the purchase of a 52 ST 90. No, not an
Alpine, and I hope I am still welcome here even for the lack of a
folding hood.
So far, the car looks good. I am hoping to get a man over to to do a
thorough inspection soon to validate the photographs soon.
This will be my first car of this type. I've owned Minis and the like
for many years.
My goal with this car is not so much a Pebble Beach concours, but a
driven car: one that can shows nicely at local and regional All-British
Car days and can ply the back roads of Hill Country of central Texas in
comfort.
This particular car shows to have had a restoration in 2004. The
pictures look great. But then again, I bought a great looking Wolseley
once that was supposed to have been 100% restored and that turned out to
be a no more than a badly rusted parts car: 100% lies.
Can any of you gents offer up some particular points to check on? Some
matter that will cost dearly later if its not right now, some part that
is built of "unobtainium"
Fill in the blank... If you discover that the car does/does not have
_____ turn it down.
I do know that the fuel and water gauge are not working, after-market
replacements are mounted below the center of the dash. This part is not
a deal-breaker for me as the instruments can likely be fixed or a the
bezels and faces can be fitted to instruments that perform the same
functions.
So hello, all. I am hoping to say I am an owner soon.
Best Regards,
WES
