Sunbeamers-- I'm in the process of rebuilding the water pump on my 54 Alpine and have a question. The bearing assembly that I removed was held in by a grease fitting. The original bearing has a retaining/drain hole.
The replacement bearing I received from Bamforth only has a narrow groove around the center of the assembly. Do I need to drill a retaining/drain hole in it?
While looking for water pumps I came upon a new Mercedes water pump that looks a lot like the one I'm working on and only $40. (The impeller alone, that I have ordered from Bamforth, cost me $86 including shipping.) Item number: 140229647837 on e-bay. See pic Comments?? Regards Ed
