[Staowners] Engine mount rubbers

Can anyone shed some light on my problem??
Using the thickness advised by Bob Hamilton of 1" I had new stabiliser rubbers made in Polyurethane. - At this thickness and with the stabiliser bars loose and at there lowest position I could not insert the 1/!6" gauge blocks as specified in the workshop manual?? - In conference with Mal Clark I thought that the packing pieces above the engine mount must not be in position, on dis-assembly I found they were in position so I rang Mal to find out what is the correct thickness for the engine mount as if the engine mount is not of the correct thickness the engine would be too low and not allow insertion of the packers. Mal advised that all the engine mounts he had averaged out at 30mm.(the same thickness as in my car)
This also raises another problem in that if one has to replace the fan belt the engine has to be jacked up as there is insufficient clearance under the engine pulley from the cross member.
I have an engine mount which is 34mm. thick? - which is correct?
The engine mounts are at approx. 30 deg. to the vertical - at this angle a 3 mm. packer raises the engine 6 mm.
I am going to put a 5 mm. packer under the engine mount rubber which will raise the engine 10 mm. thereby centralising the stabiliser bars in mid slot position and hopefully allow changing the fan belt without jacking up the engine.
Has anyone had the same problem and if so how did you overcome it?
Thanks, Alf Scotting
