[Staowners] Carburettor Question

Hi Sunbeamers-- I'm cleaning the carburettor on my 54 Alpine MK1 and notice in the workshop manual, that the pictures of the carburettor body are black.  There is some black paint on mine is this correct? If true what kind of paint should I use? Regards  Ed
