Greetings all ... while you certainly can make up a pair of straps from almost anything to retain the sidescreens in an Alpine, the original method of attachment was a single peice of belting which was passed through the two footman loops, encircling the screens. (this is clearly shown in the drivers handbook)? "Lebaron Bonney" in Massachusets?manufactures a belt intended?as a trunk strap for a model A Ford which is identical to the original leather belt including the buckle design.
it is slightly longer than needed but can be easily shortened and a new hole punched.

If you cut and old leather belt 4 - 6 inches from the buckle,? you will have both the top and the bottom pieces. The saddles are, presumably, simple metal fittings. However, depending on your waist line, these could also be cut to shape from pieces of the leather belt, using four self tapping screws with cupped or ordinary washers.

Thanks for the description, I will make one before the next rally in early May which is the? Cotes de Bordeaux , a boozy run.

Alf.the strap you are referring to, the top bit (longest) is attached to
your two top holes by means of a saddle which the strap goes around, and
hangs down towards the floor, the lower buckle is also held on by a saddle
which is screwed onto the wood insert inside the lower box where the side
screens live, this lower buckle has a short piece of strap attached is only
roughly 4" long, I produced the top piece from a ordinary trousers belt, and
I had the lower bit,if you are missing the lower bit I may have another and
a couple of saddles, regards Mal Clark.

Hi Guys,
As I have had no reply maybe this email got caught in the server crash SO
Can anyone descibe how the lower belt is fastened which holds the side
screens in place as per the instructions in the owners manual i.e. against
the bulkhead behind the seats when not in use. My car has the two top
holes but nothing below it.
If the belt was endless and only went thru. one clip then it would not
hold the screen securely against the bulkhead. What do you say David Reina
? can you help?
Anyone?
Alf Scotting
