[Staowners] Re. Query about Michelin Tyres in UK

I used to drive a Sunbeam Talbot 90 MkIIa in the days when it was a second  
hand car not a classic.  It had cross ply tyres and it handled  beautifully.  
The cars were designed to run on those tyres.  I wonder  why people are so keen 
to put radials on and seemingly give themselves a whole  lot of unnecessary 
problems.  Simple answer - use the proper tyres.   Or am I missing something 
here?
