Happy New Year to you too, John and to all Forum members.

The idea of a copper petrol pipe is a good one. I'm sure the Rootes 
engineers never thought that their steel pipe would be in use 55 years 
after it left the factory and even a minimum of internal rust would act 
as a trap for any rubbish which got picked up by the pump. On the TO DO 
check list, scrub :"Rod petrol pipe and visually check line" and replace 
with" Replace line with copper pipe - check that it is well protected 
from any accidental impact"
