There was an interesting article in my hemmings car mag, about a guy rebuilding english trannies.  He showed some pics of layshafts where a new first gear end was created and welded onto an existing layshaft....betcha he could do so for our boxes as well, maybe our first gear is the same as some other english car....if anyone wants a scan of the gear or article email me - jrdeja at verizon.net
