Hi George - That millimeter of adjustment is the problem. With all the moving parts on the linkage worn for 50+years It becomes a real pain in the butt to maintain it. I gave up on my MK2a and installed a Kneer. Regards Ed

Ed - if you look in:

  http://www.sunbeamtalbot.info/

at the S.T.A.R and other matters page and scroll down, there is a detailed explanation of the Kneer gear change mechanism and adjustment. >From experience, I have found that the difference between being able to select all gears or not getting into either reverse or 3rd/4th is a question of a millimetre of adjustment on the cable from the lever to the g/box. Once adjusted, firmly locked and treated with respect, it works fine for ever .... just keep non-Kneer drivers away from you gear change!!!!

  Good luck

Mal, The shifter Ed is referring to is a Kneer shifter. Kneer is/was a form inthe US who made a floor shift conversion almost identical to the Castle. Either one would work fine. The set upis just about the same. Pete

Hi Ed, what is the difference between the Keener shifter, and the Castle shifter? I do have a complete Castle shifter, and Floof section, if you can't get the lug nuts and studs your side,I have plenty, good luck Mal Clark.

Hi guys- I'm in need of 6 lug nuts and two wheel studs. Are these special or can they be obtained on this side of the ocean ?
I could use a good temp gauge as well.
I know it may be hopeful thinking, but I sure would like to find a Keener shifter for sale, for my 54 Alpine. Regards- Ed
