Mal,
You're dead right. That 'tip' was a reprint from Practical Motorist magazine and is absolutely crazy.
For those of you who don't have the benefit of the Technical Tips manual, this 'tip' invited you to drill a 1 to 1.5 inch hole in the top of the wing in order to remove the hinge pin!
The next edition of the Technical Tips manual is an on-going process, I think we'll make sure this one gets left out!
Cheers,
John Badger

Hi everyone,For those of you that may have a copy of the STAR Technical Tips Manual go to (Tip 112),and tell me what I am reading ref Removal of MK3 doors is not in print, and I am dreaming, someone that know absolutely nothing about our cars, has submitted this tip,or they were smoking the Wacky Tobaccy,I have never heard anything so rediculous in my life, I dread to think,if someone has actually done this,
Apart from above the Tech Tips are great imformation, and helpful.
Ps for those of you that dont know the front doors of our Cars, are removed by removing the Hinge pins,"Upwards" after removing the lower 5/16 BSF nut, accessible once you have removed the "kick Plates" from each side of the inner footwells,if any of you that are wondering what I am on about, and want to know,Either I or someone may put it on this site, Thanks Mal Clark.
