Hi Henry,I am just out of Melbourne,I know too well what you are finding with our sort of cars, over the years I have had a few different panel/paint shops do my work, and nearly all of them in the end say "we dont want to do the old cars anymore"They seem to be only interested in quick, jobs get paid, next one, I have a bit of an advantage wereas I do my own panel work,so only have to find a painter with a booth,to do the final bit, but thats still hard, I do know there is someone in Sydney who does Sunbeams I will try and find out this week end and let you know,Thanks again,Mal Clark.

Mal,
Something of a digression. Whereabouts in Oz are you, and who/where is the spray shop that you are using ?
I'm up Hornsby way, and have been stuffed around for six months by the local spray shops which all:
a) want to gouge me on the price
b) want to do the work when it suits them, as "fill-in" (Got talking to one guy who has just got his Valiant back. It looks superb but took 18 months !)

Hi everyone,it certainly has been quite on this site lately, I look forward to reading your postings, and trying to help others,so perhaps we all could put something down from the Sunbeam Scene, and post it on the site,I guess for alot of you on the other side of the World its time to think of hibernating, wereas we are coming out of Spring into Summer, I do hope your winters aren't to severe, as we all know weather pattens seem to be changing, like our 10 year drought, then floods last weekend, crazy, and the exteme heat and fires in the States, could be shaping up for a harsh Winter,
I recieved my Alpine and all the bolt on panels and parts back from the paint shop this week, all looking very smart in its Rolls Royce Silver Mink, (metalic Blue) slight tinge of green, superb job, so back in the work shop for reassemble,I have removed all the Suspension components and are being shot blasted and powder coated, the back end is out being cleaned and painted, diff is away being checked and set up, word of warning those rear springs are over the top they must weigh 1/2 ton, 14 leaves, over engineering,( ever looked under a Ford Transit, and their one spring) so with all the componentry off the car, i will clean down ( after huge job of complete masking of the fresh painted body) and spray on underbody underseal, after which will be painted 2 pac black,I can then reattach all the restored suspension bits etc, I an fitting the Humber Shipe disc brakes, and power booster, with the Humber set up there is a slighty different stub axle height,so its advisable to remove 1/2 a coil from the front springs,to retain the Sunbeam suspension height, If any of you have had to replace the front upper bump stops( they are held in place by the stop themselves) having a locking part made on to the bump stop,at the top,I manage to purchase yesterday from and old parts supplier,4 correct stops they had tags on them stating 1947 Pontiac, ???? anyway they are fine, replace the rear wheel bearings and the two oil/grease seals each side at the back, Waiting on the engine to be completed, was bored last week, along with Bobs original Pistons,Thanks Bob, well folks thats it for now, will keep you imformed of further progress, and some photo's soon, all the best Mal Clark.
