Hi Ray
          Another way to try a lower ratio would be to see if you could pick up a set of 15" wheels with the same PCD of the wheel studs, or if you know someone with a Humber Hawk ask if you can borrow the wheels to try out.   But if you buy a set make sure they go over the drums as they are very big.

       PS   With the Toyota 2ltr your down nearly 300cc although it has more BHP it would be down on torque & it's not a long stroke engine like the Beamer & pulling 26 1/2 Hundredweight you would have to have a lower axle ratio definitely.
