Hi George, yes we all have the side grille problem. I have mine at the
platers at the moment hoping they can get through the shocking die cast and
end up with something acceptable, to me the side grille painted body colour
is just ok, but I would spend a bit of time in preparing them and paint them
a contrasting colour like silver, originally there was a exposed gasket
around the side opening grille surrounds, this gasket did break up the
frontal appearance around the side grilles, one car I restored I got my
trimmer to make up some piping in a green vinyl, and used that as the
gasket,it looked great, the Ivory Alpine on ebay, to me looks too bland on
the front with every thing one colour,
With such a lovely frontal area on the Sunbeam,I love to see lots of the
original chrome,ie Badge bar, Lucas Flamethrower lamps, chromed side
grilles, and some nice badges, but thats me, I love leather, chrome, and
polished wood, in my cars, if I didnt, I would buy a mundane modern buzz
box. Mal Clark
