HI everyone, just to let you know I have some praise for Kip Motors with all the Negative's in the past,I ordered and recieved a rear number plate lamp lens a while ago although the first one is somewhere in the post, never arrived, Kip had no hesitation in sending me another, which arrived ok,can't say the quality of the lens was good, the SUNBEAM centre part was ok,but the Reverse light areas were shocking, about a quarter of the reverse light area was ground away, leaving a void into the chome surround,as if there were another MK3 chrome surround with shorter reverse lamps, any way I accepted it and have modified and looks ok, Its really too hard to return to them, for a replacement, because I have seen the same lens here another Sunbeam owner, purchased and its the same,so it appears that the way they make them, but they are definately made wrong, now the praise, after trying many sources world wide, to obtain some Cam Bearings for my Alpine,I was directed to Kips Obsolete parts section, and there listed were the Cam Bearings,I rang Kips and BOB comfirmed they could produce them, would take 2 weeks to make, that was on the 13th Sept, they arrive to me here in Aus today27th Sept.a complete suprise of the prompt arrival of these parts, when you consider it takes a week for the post to arrive down under, incidently I order two sets of the cam bearings, one set for another Alpine owner about to do a rebuild, when I opened the package today I was convinced they were the wrong bearings as there were 3 parts to each set, expecting just the two wide bearings, the front bearing of the cam in this set consists of two parts a 3/4" wide and a 3/16" wide bearing it appears these 2 parts go one each side of the front bearing area, leaving the oil groove open in the middle of the two, I can only assume there may of been a oil supply problem,on the original design bearing, where the oil supply relied on a hole in the bearing, the rear cam shaft bearing has been supplied same as original about 2: wide with oil holes, so after my panic my engine reconditioners assure me the new bearings are fine, So thanks to Kip,I can procede with the rebuild, relieved Mal Clark.
