Hi everyone,I took the punt and purchased a MK3 number plate light lens from Kip Motors, I am quite satisfied with the SUNBEAM lettering being Gold, surrounded by a deep red,I can live with that, but what is concerning is the reverse light areas to the left and right of the Sunbeam Lettering. has been ground off 1/2" on both on the outside edges(crazy) as if the chrome housings were different, size ,but I thought all MK3's were all the same, anyone know different? this ground off area has been done with an angle grinder, and look shocking when fitted to the chrome facia. You will smile at the next bit of imformation, this new lens is sort of transparent, but a dirty looking, its ok underneath for the light on the number plate, but the areas for reverse lights doesn't look good, especially with the ground off bits showing,so I carried out a fix I have done previously on these back lamps,I aquired a 1 litre milk bottle (plastic) this bottle has a off white appearance,I cut the side of the bottle, to create a dummy lens over the reverse light areas,I glued these parts to the outside of the original lens, when fitted back into the chrome frames, the reverse light areas look superb and correct, just not sure on the life of my new milk bottle lens, time will tell,if it breaks down with the weather, shouldn't suffer from heat, from the reverse light globes as the"milk lens" is on the outside, and reverse lights shouldn't operate for too long, keep you posted, I appears from other comments concerning Kip Motors in the past, that these lens are not right, my point in question, proved that to me, but to their credit, the first lens they sent in May,never arrived,so they painted up a second lens and air freighted that to me,which was recieved in 6 days, free of charge, anyway Bob Stewart is still proceeding in making these lens and you can be sure they will be right, bye for now Mal Clark.
