Luc, The car is a Mk11 as evidensed by the "solid" wheels and large hubcap. The Mk11 also was fitted with fender skirts or spats[depending whether you speak english or american] which were deleted on the 11a.This places it between 1950 and 1952 when the 11a was introduced. The saloons and convertibles exported were still fitted with trafficators until late '53/54 when a cover was placed over the aperture and flashers installed. The rounded bumpers were  also introduced in late '53 on 11a saloons,convertibles and Alpines.

(1) how do i start ,  disappointed as i am after seeing what is proposed on e-bay and how...
(2) an ALPINE (the Grace Kelly car, as it is nowadys lovingly known) is not a COUPE point.  
Three position drophead coupé built by Thrupp and Maberly, to give you the full wording, mostly abbreviated to DHC.  And that is the car in the pictures I've seen.
And there was also the Saloon.
(3) the alpine was launched in 53 and build till 55.
The ALPINE was always labelled SUNBEAM.  Never, neverrrr Sunbeam-Talbot, although the building factory still had that name.  Because there was a problem with the (legal) right over the TALBOT name.  Detailing this would lead us far too far.... 
(3) the last of (our) those Sunbeam left the factory summer 1956 as the Mk III : slimmer front bumper, (fake) air-outlets under the end of the bonnet, more chrome around the side lights (including trafficators) on 
the nose.  How can anyone claim a 1959 as building year ?  First or second or thirth registration, maybe, but not a 1959 built Sunbeam Coupe.
(4) Now, I'm going a little further :  the front bumper is not the rounded type, as on the Mk III.  It is the large type, with  the square for the registration plate.  Noticed ?  Well, that means rather a Mk II or Mk IIA.  And those were produced 1952 and/or 1953.
(4) and she has the trafficator "wells" behind the front doors.  Curious, very curious for a car somewhere in the USA 
(I presume, as only a few e-mailers dare to say where they live - and that makes a hell of a lot af a difference...)
(5) happy bidding : the radiator is in the place where some floor would be appropriate....

Apparently it's in Maldon, near Castlemaine - the wording of the ad suggests its a '59 Alpine but that seems to be a fault with the website.  Anyway it looks reasonable.
