[Staowners] Engine Number Location

Curiouser and curiouser ....... as I have the original block for my
Alpine Mk I in the chai*, I took a torch and scrutinised every part of
the block. There was no trace of any stamping, other than casting
numbers, apart from a letter U low down on the block nor did I find a
machined area on the block which could take a number.

A review of the workshop manual and the Parts List only referred to the
data plate which shows chassis/engine number and body number.

I think I now understand how S-T managed to have the same chassis and
engine number - they never bothered to number the engine block!!!
Hopefully, someone wiser than me will disprove this theory.

parts and all the junk that one accumulates over 40+ years of marriage,
including things that "may be useful one day ... you never know "
