Alf - the side screens, when not in use, fit behind the seats on the
'shelf' over the rear axle and behind the soft top when its folded down.
On my Alpine, there is a piece of carpet attached under the bodywork
behind the seats and hanging down to the floor. If I chose to go
'topless' and without side screens, I first loosen the soft top clips on
the windscreen and unclip the rear of the soft top from its two chrome
clips on the boot/trunk. Then I raise the dear lady's carpet skirt and
bring it out over the boot. Then I take the side screens off the doors,
put them into soft but strong individual bags which the P.O. had made
and stow on the 'shelf' behind the seats. Then the hood is lowered,
folded and properly stowed behind the seats and finally, the old lady's
skirt is lowered over it all.

I don't understand how any straps fit into this process unless in the
original Alpine, there were straps hanging down when my skirt is and
these were used to hold the side screens on the shelf over the rear axle
if one was driving with no side screens but with the hood still up.
Also, what are you trying to secure to the "front" of the car? Elucidate
!!!!

Cheers
