Dear All,
Those who have spoken to me will know that, correcting a weeping head
gasket has been top of my to-do list for a considerable time. I would
welcome any suggestions of how to do this better. I have had several goes
without success. The usual symptom is radiator water that looks like a
cappuccino. When the head is removed there is evidence of slight weeping
(mottled staining) between no.2 & 3 cylinders. In a previous car the problem
turned out to be studs that were not fully tight in the block, becoming
loose when hot. The head has been resurfaced, and the block just checked by
straight edge. The problem was brought on by overheating, when running the
car on a very hot day, with the engine only approximately tuned, and the
under radiator baffle plate not fitted. I would be grateful for any
suggestions to make this gasket change the final one. Head tightening during
running in, has been done at decreasing intervals, to try to head of the
problem.
