Ray the heater light switch,is to operate a small light globe that is positioned up behind the heater facia behind the switch,,the top of the globe is held in with a ring,which is part of the heater metal work, over the globe is fitted a rubber deflector shield/shade,which directs the light down to the carpet,the globes were originally painted red,for a sexy glow, this light assists in entering the car,when dark, and when some finding of things is required.I love this little light,even more amazing,quite a few Talbot/Alpines that I have had,this light still works with the original red globe,quite something after 50+ years, good luck, to all Mal Clark.
