Hi All.
In 2002 I purchased a 1954 Alpine special PNE 7 which had been in Monmouth for many years, this car had also been restored by Stirling cars.
The off hand side had been repaired with new sections, but they had only stitch welded, they left the welds un-ground. Then it was covered with filler and sprayed in Mustard yellow.
On one door there was over 28mm of deep filler.
Although the car was legally on the road you could but your hand up through the sill to the middle of the A & B posts.
Now to the interesting items for all you special owners.
There were only 86 produced, 40 right hand drive and 46 left-hand drive cars, All are MK1's There were no MK111's produced.
Paint colours were, 47 Alpine mist,18 coronation red,17 ivory, 3 sapphire blue and 1 black.
6 of these were Works team cars.
There was 1 special Saloon (not included in the 86), but there are no details on this car.
Of these I have records of 24 surviving, 14 right hand drive.
If you think you have a Alpine special or you definitely have one, please let me know to up date the records.
Hope this is of interest to you all.
