[Staowners] Alpine wing vents

Some Alpines have opening side vents at the top rear
of each of the 
front wings whilst others don't.  Its not mentioned in
the Parts manual
but I always thought that these were Mk3 Alpines and
that the Mk1 
Alpines didn't have them. Is this right ?

What are the other identifiers of a MK3 Alpine vs MK1
Alpine ?

Beside the integral tacho on the dash, any other give
aways ?
