[Staowners] Arm rests

It sounds like you are describing the remnants of the sports door pulls
that were hidden under the posh door arm rests. This was original
fitment. For the true sportscar roadster look, the owner could remove the
posh arm rests to reveal a strap door pull. These were a 6-8" x 1/2"
(approx, this is from memory) wooden block with a padded wire loop from end
to end, all covered in matching rexine. Many owners never knew they were
there...
