According to the STAR Technical Tips Manual, the original Alpine Mist ICI
code was 222/2261 (Tip #39), and the modern (as of 1995) ICI AutoColour
code is 031-2261M (Tip # 151).
The ICI AutoColour formulation for 031-2261M:
INGREDIENT 1 L (GMS) 1.0L(GMS)
P030-999 307.7 307.7
P030-9949 449.3 449.3
P030-9905 458.1 458.1
P030-9981 488.4 488.4
P017-0404 976.8 976.8
ICI in Britain may be able to help in sorting out the ingredient
codes. ICI and DuPont are apparently partner companies, so a good US
DuPont retailer might be able to mix to the above formula. Brown Brothers
branches in England can mix paints to these specs.
George, it might be easiest to take an unweathered panel to a good DuPont
retailer to have it color matched, either by computer or good eye. The
paint colors on the inside of the cubby box lid (covered by a
rexine/cardboard panel) or on the underside of the cubby box surround are
often remarkably fresh and easily transported for matching. Since you are
in York, it might be worth your while to visit Snavely & Dosch in Lancaster
(426 N Prince St). They are one of the oldest DuPont stockists in the US
and they were able to perfectly match Coronation Red for my Alpine -- it is
still carried by DuPont as part of their National Fleet Colors range (maybe
Alpine Mist is as well -- you might get lucky).
Cheers! --Max
