Back again, to continue my story, I have a restoration to do, on a 66 Sunbeam Tiger for a man, which will give me some income, after a year of building the house, so I plan to try and restore it and my Alpine side by side, lots of sandblasting/chroming/ trimming together, have done it this way before, can work, just a bit harder,
Now last week Bob ( Bobs Rubbers) and I took a trip to Sydney to accuire 2 Talbot Alpines and a Talbot sedan, trailered 1 Alpine back, and the other two arrived last night,by transporter, they both need total restoration, the sedan is for parts, we feel we have saved the two Alpines from deteriorating further from the chicking poo in the shed where the cars were, will attempt to get one of the Alpines going this week, and fix the brakes, I will try to get you all some photos of all my projects, Bob perhaps you could tell me the resize that is required for the site to recieve.
Thanks to you who responded to my message yesterday to say it was recieved, and to Frank and Beth Jenkins for the photo's of their superb Alpine,Steve has done a great job, and to Guido, after many years of restoring many cars and relying on others there's and old saying " If you want something done " do it yourself, how many times does that ring true, it may take longer, but the satisfaction, and pride you have in doing it, and at the end of the day if you stuff it up, so what, do it again, it will be better the second or third time, remember it has to last along time, so keep at it,I know over the years all the things I couldn't do or was scared to do,now are easy, Wiring comes to mind,I love rewiring a car, easy to follow the wiring colours,
A big thank you to those who have purchased Bobs Rubbers,he is happy to have supplied them to you, he is working on another rubber at the moment the headlight bowl base rubber seal, and still has the rear number plate lens in the pipeline, I will push him along on that one, to finish off and not to bore you any longer, I have a 2A Drophead, a MK3 Talbot sedan, and a MK2 Talbot sedan, which are for spares, so if any parts are required, send me an email shadow74 at bigpond.com
Lastly I have managed to purchase at a cost 3 copies of that great book, " NO EXCUSES" by Sheila Van Damm, the history of Sheila"s Works Rallying in her Talbots and Alpines in the 50s Monte Carlo/ Alpine Rallies, as well as her work at the great WINDMILL theatre in London, a fantastic book, and as her Boss ( Norman Garrard) said of her ralling NO EXCUSES, any way the 3 are availible, at $85 each they are expensive, I got all three from overseas, freight and customs costs, etc, Thanks again to all you members for keeping this site going, happy Sunbeaming, to all, just to rub it in for all the members freezing or in the snow, its a beautiful sunny day of 72 degrees here in Melbourne Australia, keep shoveling the snow, Bye for now Mal Clark.
